Advanced Diploma of Bible, Mission & Ministry

• Those serving in lay ministry and key members of a local church wanting preparation to share Jesus in their workplace and community.
• Those engaging in mission and wanting a focused preparation for cross-cultural and global mission.
• Those serving in women’s ministry and wanting to engage with historical and social issues with particular relevance for discipling women.
• Those serving in music ministry  and wanting to engage with theological and historical issues of church music and to develop skills in music leadership and worship.

Graduates with the Advanced Diploma may be eligible to proceed to the second year of the College’s Bachelor of Divinity or Bachelor of Theology programs.

The normal academic entry requirement for this course includes a degree from an Australian university or its equivalent.

Applicant’s academic background:

• Higher Education. An undergraduate degree in any field from an Australian university or equivalent qualification.
• VET Study and Work and Life Experience. Enquiries are welcome from Australian residents without a university degree as mature age students may qualify by an entrance exam.
• Recent Secondary Education (within the past two years).
  Normally not applicable.

Other Admission Criteria

The College exists to prepare men and women for Christian ministry. In addition to the academic requirements, other criteria must be demonstrated for admission to the College. The criteria must be attested by personal references supplied by the applicant and will be evaluated by an admissions panel. An interview with the applicant is required.

• Understanding of and aptitude for Christian leadership and ministry (including leadership potential, ministry experience, experience of sharing the knowledge of God and exemplary personal life consistent with the principles of the Anglican Church of Australia, Diocese of Sydney).
• Theological understanding (including a basic understanding of the Christian gospel, general familiarity with the content of the Bible and the capacity to make theological connections to personal life).
• Aptitude for community living (including emotional maturity and relationship skills).
• A firm intention of engaging in Christian ministry (broadly defined) after graduation.

Applications from domestic students to commence study in semester 2 are due by 30 June.
Applications from domestic students for the forthcoming year are due by 30 November.
Applications from international students for the forthcoming year are due by 31 October.

For those with a university degree in a language other than English, a certified copy of an IELTS score of at least 7 in all categories of the academic test, is required. TOEFL scores are also accepted.

Credit transfer may be available and is assessed in terms of the Academic Credit Policy, located on the Moore Policy website, and the Australian Qualifications Framework, Qualifications Pathways Policy.

• Fees are charged by unit.
• The sum of all required units fees (domestic) in each academic year for 2024 is $24,200 for full-time on-campus study. See Current Unit Fees and Census Dates for Undergraduate courses.

• Fees can be paid upfront or via FEE-HELP (for eligible students).
• The Academic Board reserves the right to cancel the enrolment of any student whose fees are not paid by the due date. Fees and other amounts payable by students are determined by the College Governing Board and after preparation of the College budget in August prior to each academic year.

There are four streams of study available in the Advanced Diploma of Bible, Missions and Ministry – Lay Ministry, Mission, Women’s Ministry and Music Ministry.

Students who complete all units within a single stream of study (e.g. Missions) will have that stream noted on their graduating certificate.  However, students may choose units from more than one stream if they do not want to specialise.

Please Note:

• If numbers are insufficient, some units may not run every year
• Students in the Advanced Diploma of Bible Mission and Ministry may study CT111 Thinking as a Theologian, instead of CT125 Overview of Church History. CT111 is a core unit in the first year of the Bachelor of Theology (BTh). Students studying the Advanced Diploma of Bible, Missions and Ministry who are considering articulating to the BTh may consider studying CT111 instead of CT125. An introductory Church History unit is offered as a core unit in the second year of the BTh.
